One of the most important stages of construction of a new coke battery with preliminary ramming of coal charge has started at the Cherepovets Metallurgical Combine.
Specialists of JSC "Trust Koksokhimmontazh" performed refractory masonry of the first block, pre-kindling installation, fully mounted the anchorage of coke ovens, installed temporary furnaces (the so-called "Dutch furnaces") and a temporary pipeline of nitrogen, steam and coke gas, 116 temporary burners, and also completed the construction of the chimney. Then the heat-insulating lining of the chimney was dried and the coke battery was handed over to the specialists of Paul Wurth Italia S.p.A., a company that is the developer of the technology of preliminary ramming of the charge.
Each battery furnace has thermal sensors connected to logic controllers connected to the automated process control system, with the help of which the battery is heated completely automatically.
After two months, the battery should reach 750-800 degrees and be ready to be switched to permanent heating. During this period, the Koksokhimmontazh Trust must perform post-heating installation.
The general battery heating schedule is designed for three months. After switching to constant heating, the temperature in the chambers will be raised to 1100-1150 degrees, and then the coke battery will be ready to load the charge.
