The Coking Chemical Installation Trust has started the refractory laying of a coke oven on battery No. 11 at CherMK

JSC Trust Koksokhimmontazh has started the construction of a coke oven masonry on the first block under construction (KB-11) at the Cherepovets Metallurgical Combine (CherMK, PJSC Severstal).

About a hundred unique highly qualified specialists in refractory masonry are currently working at KB-11. The peculiarity of the masonry is that it must be carried out evenly along the entire length of the battery, because it is the quality of the refractory masonry that will determine the efficiency and duration of the coke battery. The construction of the battery will require about 20 thousand tons of refractories and more than 400 types of refractory bricks.

Coke battery No. 11 will have two units with a capacity of 700 thousand tons of coke per year each. Commissioning of the first unit is planned in 2020, the second unit – in 2021.

KHM Trust acts as the general contractor for the construction of KB No. 11 with the ramming of coal charge at CherMK. Ramming of the charge was previously used only in large international projects, and is still unique for Russia. The use of this technology makes it possible to work with almost all types of coal, which significantly reduces production costs. The most important advantage of using the technology is to reduce the amount of coal dust emissions, which means a significant reduction in the harmful impact on the environment.
