Trust Koksokhimmontazh completes pre-kindling installation of the first block of coke battery No. 11
Trest Koksokhimmontazh completes pre-kindling installation of the equipment of the first block as part of the construction of coke battery No. 11 with preliminary ramming of coal charge at the Cherepovets Metallurgical Combine (part of Severstal Russian Steel).
Before the start of drying and heating of the coke battery, the specialists of "Coke chemical Installation" had to mount the anchorage ("frame" of refractory masonry) of coke ovens, temporary gas pipelines, gas-air valves, finish the construction of a 120-meter-high chimney and a central hog. The total weight of the installed equipment is 2924 tons.
Coke battery No. 11 with ramming of coal charge has no analogues in Russia. The facility uses the technologies of Paul Wurth Italia S.p.A., therefore, the process of preparing the anchorage is more complex than on traditional batteries.
In parallel, the company continues work on the construction of buildings and structures for the supply of charge to the coal tower, sorting and shipping coke to consumers.
Coke battery No. 11 will have two units with a capacity of 700 thousand tons of coke per year each. Commissioning of the first unit is planned in 2020, the second unit – in 2021.
Ramming of the charge was previously used only in large international projects, and is still unique for Russia. This technology makes it possible to work with almost all types of coal, which significantly reduces production costs. In addition to the preliminary ramming of the coal charge, the use of SOPRECO technology allows to reduce the volume of emissions of suspended substances into the atmosphere of the city, which will certainly have a beneficial effect on the surrounding ecosystem.
