The refractory masonry of the second block of coke oven battery No. 11 has been completed

Trust Koksokhimmontazh has started pre-heating installation of the equipment of the second unit as part of the construction of coke battery No. 11 with preliminary ramming of coal charge at the Cherepovets Metallurgical Combine. The introduction of coal charge ramming technology is an investment innovation that will improve the environmental performance of production and improve the economics of the project, since now metallurgists can use a wider range of raw materials.
To date, the refractory masonry has been completed. It took about 20 thousand tons of refractories, more than 800 types of refractory bricks to complete it. The peculiarity of masonry is that it must be carried out evenly along the entire length of the battery. It is on its quality that the efficiency and duration of operation of the coke oven battery depends.
According to the schedule, before heating up the coke battery, Coke chemical installation specialists will have to mount the anchorage of coke ovens, temporary gas pipelines, gas-air valves, finish the construction of the chimney and the central hog. A total of 2,970 tons of equipment will be installed at this stage.
"In the next few months, we will have to perform one of the most difficult and responsible types of work - pre-kindling installation of equipment, prepare the second unit for drying and heating," said Alexey Bachurin, head of the KHM-Cherepovets directorate.
